Mahavir belongs to Balali, a small village in Haryana, which did not give him his expected rights for raising his daughters. Mahavir’s wife’s name is Daya Kaur, who has equally supported him in achieving his dreams and goals.

His love for his daughters does not reflect in his words, but in his actions. He quit his job to raise and coach his little angels, so that they can turn to inspiring personalities. Today, more than a wrestler, Mahavir is famous for his coaching skills and the support that reflects through his daughters.

Things were not as easy as it seems. Mahavir has gone through a roller coaster ride to explain people why it is important to raise your daughters equally instead of pushing them to marry. He has defied many arguments, risked his own life and career; despite the hurdles, he stands alone to fight back the challenges posed for his daughters.

When he began coaching his daughters, Mahavir did not know if he will be successful in creating an interest in his daughters` hearts for wrestling. It is only his passion and his daughters` love for him, which has together brought him this recognition.

We are also three sisters and when I shared Mahavir’s story to my father, he got his life’s energy and inspiration back with full spirits.

दुबई में मनाई गई छुट्टियों की तस्वीरें इस दोस्ती की झलक देती हैं। जिनमें सुजैन अपने बच्चों ऋहान और ऋदान के साथ मस्ती करती दिख रही हैं।

बॉलीवुड के एक्स कपल ऋतिक रोशन और सुजैन खान के फैन्स के लिए अच्छी खबर है। बात ये है कि ऋतिक रोशन अपनी एक्स वाइफ और सुजैन और बच्चों के साथ हॉलिडे पर गए हुए हैं। अलग होने के दो साल बाद भी दोनों में अच्छी दोस्ती है। दुबई में मनाई गई छुट्टियों की तस्वीरें इस दोस्ती की झलक देती हैं। जिनमें सुजैन अपने बच्चों ऋहान और ऋदान के साथ मस्ती करती दिख रही हैं।

एक महीने में ये दूसरी बार है जब पूरी फैमिली साथ दिखी है। इससे पहले इसी महीने ऋतिक और सुजैन अपने बच्चों के साथ दुबई के एक रेस्त्रां में डिनर करते दिखे थे। सभी एक ही कार में वहां से निकले थे और साथ में काफी खुश नजर आ रहे थे। हालांकि सुजैन ने हमेशा कहा है कि वह ऋतिक के साथ दोबारा किसी रिश्ते की शुरुआत नहीं करेंगी। लेकिन जब बच्चों की बात आएगी तो वह हमेशा अच्छे पैरेंट्स की तरह रहेंगे।

एक बार जब सुजैन खान बच्चों के साथ विदेश में हॉलिडे पर थीं और ऋतिक भी तस्वीर में नजर आए थे। तो उन्होंने कहा था कि हम सबसे पहले पैरेंट्स हैं। हम अपने बच्चों को बेहतरीन परवरिश देने के लिए हमेशा आगे रहेंगे। उस हॉलिडे के बाद अब दोबारा उनका साथ नजर आना दिखाता है कि ऋतिक और सुजैन की दोस्ती बढ़ रही है।

दो साल पहले आई इस जोड़े की तलाक की खबर के बाद यह दूसरा मौका है जब यह जोड़ा सब के सामने एक दूसरे के साथ दिखाई दिया है. इससे पहले रितिक और सुजैन दुबई के एक रेस्‍तरां में अपने बच्‍चों के साथ डिनर करते हुए नजर आ चुके हैं. इस रेस्‍तरां से निकलने के बाद यह जोड़ा अपने बच्‍चों के साथ एक ही कार में जाता दिखाई दिया. हालांकि सुजैन एक वेबसाइट इंटरव्‍यू में कह चुकी हैं कि वह कभी एक नहीं होंगे लेकिन वह हमेशा एक अच्‍छे माता-पिता होने का फर्ज निभाएंगे जो उनकी सबसे पहली प्रमुखता है.

बता दें कि रितिक रोशन की फिल्‍म 'काबिल' अगले साल 25 जनवरी को रिलीज होने वाली है. इस फिल्‍म में रितिक के साथ यमी गौतम दिखाई देंगी.

Movie review: Dangal aims high but misses the gold medal

Dangal wants to have the best of both drama and reality, but ends up being stranded in no man's land

It’s not often that the opening credits of a Bollywood film make you smile. Quite early in Dangal, when the names of different production members come on screen, at one point, we see the credit ‘wrestling coordinator’. The name under it is Kripa Shankar Bishnoi, followed by Arjuna Award in brackets. Bishnoi, a coach of the Indian women’s wrestling team, trained Aamir Khan and other actors for the film. It’s heartening to know that Dangal — a film centred on wrestling, detailing the struggles of Indian wrestlers – cares about a real-life wrestler, too, taking an extra step to highlight his achievement. This gesture’s all the more important, because in a country like India, recognition in a sport, other than cricket, is hard to come.

Dangal cares about the world it’s set in, achieving much by trying little. When Mahavir Singh Phogat (Khan), a famed wrestler, expecting his second child to be a boy, gets to know that his wife has given birth to a girl, his friend says, “Koi na (it’s okay)” – a more gentle way of saying “shit happens”. It’s a blink-and-miss moment in the film, but at the same time, a much-needed and quiet indictment of patriarchy. When Mahavir’s girls, Geeta and Babita, wear shorts for the first time, so that they can jog easily, they look visibly embarrassed, worried whether their knees are visible. When Mahavir’s wife (Sakshi Tanwar) apologises to him for not giving birth to a son, he says, “Isme teri galti thodi na hai (its not your fault)” This scene, too, is an important moment in the film, because it talks about a certain kind of Indian man, who isn’t a misogynist, but being deeply entrenched in notions of patriarchy, hasn’t come to terms with gender equality, either.(more)

Movie review: Aamir Khan shines in a cliche-ridden Dangal

In recent times, a surfeit of real-life stories were imitated in Hindi cinema, namely Sarbjit, Dhoni, Mary Kom, Neerja. While some inspired to a certain extent, others seemed to have lost the plot in one way or the other. What makes Dangal stand apart is the fact that it sticks to a view that seems grandiose even in 2016— women are no less than men.

Aamir Khan is his typically terrific best as the once-upon-a-time-good wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat of Haryana who is dejected after having four daughters and no son to take his legacy in the akhada ahead. The former player laments to his wife (the wonderful Sakshi Tanwar for whom such roles are a walk in the park on the small screen) that his desire of seeing his son win a gold medal for the country in wrestling will remain unfulfilled.

He, however, gets pleasantly surprised when his daughters — Geeta (Zaira Wasim) and Babita (Suhani Bhatnagar)—prove that wrestling is in their blood as they thrash the neighbour's child who bullies them. The father then turns into a determined coach and trains the school-going girls to become wrestlers and win medals. He single-mindedly pushes the girls and pays no heed to naysayers. These sequences are some of the movie’s most scintillating moments when we see the girls put through the motions in a gruelling manner.

The disciplined ways of Phogat irks his young daughters so much so that they plead in front of their mother but to no avail. Both the actors’ smouldering delivery of crisp Haryanvi dialogues makes the first half a lovely journey. The writers, Nitesh Tiwari (who is also the director), Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain and Nikhil Meherotra, to their credit, keep the narrative straightforward. Yet, multiple scenes appear stretched. Miss World 2016: Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle takes the crown

Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico has been crowned Miss World 2016, edging out runners-up from the Dominican Republic and Indonesia, and beauties from around the globe. 

Del Valle, 19, is a brown-eyed brunette student who speaks Spanish, English and French, and hopes to get into the entertainment industry.

Crowned by Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna of Spain, del Valle yesterday called it an "honor and a great responsibility" to represent her Caribbean homeland. 

First runner-up was Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic, followed by Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela. 

Contestants from Kenya and Catriona Gray of the Philippines also were in the final five. 

Canada's Miss World representative, Chinese-born Anastasia Lin was embroiled in a controversy when pageant officials reportedly warned her against speaking to the press for three weeks about human rights abuses in China. She was given the green light again on Wednesday. 

Last year, China blocked Lin from attending the same contest when it was held in the city of Sanya.

'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' title track top trending Hindi song

Ranbir Kapoor's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" title track is the most trending Hindi song of the year, with "Kala Chashma" following on number two, according to Google India.

The song from the Karan Johar-directed film is penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya while Pritam has composed the track crooned by Arjit Singh.

The list also includes the title track of superstar Salman Khan'S "Sultan," "Tere Sang Yaara" from "Rustom" and "Nashe Si Chad Gayi" from "Befikre".

In the top trending English song list "Closer" by The Chainsmokers is on number one position followed by "Champion (Dwayne "DJ" Bravo) and Sia's "Cheap Thrills".

Coldplay's "Hymn for the weekend," video which has been shot in India, is at the fourth position.

Indian origin child actor Neel Sethi, who played the lead role of in "The Jungle Book," has made it to most trending Hollywood celebrities list, topped by Jaden Smith.

Haseeno Ka Deewana teaser: Urvashi Rautela features in this reprise of Yaarana song, in Kaabil

The box-office clash of Sanjay Gupta's Kaabil and Rahul Dholakia's Raees has pitted Hrithik Roshan against Shah Rukh Khan, Yami Gautam against Mahira Khan, Rakesh Roshan against Shah Rukh and Ronit and Rohit Roy against Nawazuddin Siddiqui in their respective capacities. Now, there is yet another comparison being drawn, between the dance numbers of Urvashi Rautela and Sunny Leone.

While we saw glimpses of Leone on the song 'Laila O Laila' in the Raees trailer, the makers of Kaabil have released a 22-second teaser of Rautela dancing to the tunes of 'Haseeno Ka Deewana'. Both the songs are remixes of old Hindi songs.

'Laila O Laila' was originally picturised on Zeenat Aman in Feroz Khan's directorial from 1980, Qurbani. On the other hand, Rautela's number dates back to 1981 in Rakesh Kumar's Yaarana. Rajesh Roshan, who composed the original tune of the iconic song 'Saara Zamana' featuring Amitabh Bachchan, has lent a pacey touch to the new number by incorporating more beats and decreasing the bass among other improvisations.

Unlike the original song, Rautela is seen dancing all by herself and not accompanied by dozens of back-up dancers as in the case of Bachchan's song. Apart from her, one can only spot a royal blue bike and a lot of lights, all set on Rautela dancing on the beats in lightening speed.

Bollywood Life quotes the director Sanjay Gupta as saying, "In our version, the song will be sung by a female playback singer and picturised in the most ostentatious and imaginative way on Urvashi Rautela. Those who recall Mr Bachchan’s outfit in the song will remember that his outfit had countless light bulbs on it. And even today when you watch it play, it has that jaw-dropping effect.

Not to be left out, we are attempting something close. On the weekend we had booked every single light that was available for shooting to create a similar impact on our set at Filmistan Studios. A huge dome was erected and Urvashi sizzled like never before."

"I, we ask you to join us today to become the collective voice of the oppressed children across the world in our fight against the injustices that they have to endure everyday," she said.

Chopra lauded decades of efforts by UNICEF on shining the light on children and bringing awareness that "we are seriously endangering our future, which is our children." However, the actor’s dedication to films has come under some fire after fitness coach Ranveer Allahbadia released a video recently on the internet, claiming that the PK actor used steroids to achieve a wrestler’s physique. While Aamir himself has made no comment on the matter, the star’s fitness coach replied to the rumours and didn’t exactly put them to rest.

“It would amount to breach of confidentiality for me to talk about this. All I can say is, steroids are an occupational hazard in the entertainment industry. It would be naïve to believe that its consumption is nil, and to deny its existence,” Rahul Bhatt, who acted as Aamir’s coach during the filming of Dangal, explained. Now, that’s neither here nor there and doesn’t exactly clear up the matter. After all, if there’s nothing to hide, why doesn’t the Dangal team give a straight answer?

According to a report in DNA, Bhatt added, “I am not admitting to anything. Just how my client got that physique, or how any entertainer gets into shape is a matter between the client and the coach. I am not at liberty to talk about this. Let’s put it this way. If I had a son and he wanted to be an actor, I’d never let him mess around with steroids. And only a qualified fitness coach can guide you through a proper regime where you don’t mess up your metabolism with mindless abuse.” Read more
