Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara Ali Khan's 'Kedarnath' to release on December 7

Mansoor is a reserved porter who lives with his widowed mother in a hamlet called Rambara and helps pilgrims make an arduous journey upwards to the temple town
Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan-starrer "Kedarnath" has finally found a release date and the film is set to bow into theatres on December 7.
Set against the backdrop of the mountain tsunami that wrecked the temple town in June 2013 leaving more than a hundred thousand dead, the movie has been directed by Abhishek Kapoor.
The teaser of the film will be launched Tuesday.
"Kedarnath" is the love story of Mansoor, played by Sushant, and Mukku essayed by debutante Sara.
Mansoor is a reserved porter who lives with his widowed mother in a hamlet called Rambara and helps pilgrims make an arduous journey upwards to the temple town. His life changes when he meets the rebellious Mukku.
Abhishek says making the film has been a "personal pilgrimage".
"As a filmmaker, I have always been drawn to challenges beyond entertainment. Pushing boundaries takes you beyond the clutter; that's my comfort zone or as I'd like to term it - 'my sweet spot'," the director said in a statement.
The movie has been produced Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP and Pragya Kapoor's Guy in the Sky Pictures.
Ronnie says the film is a breath of fresh air at a time in Indian cinema where there appears to be a dearth of original and relatable love stories.
"A titanic love story set against one of the biggest natural disasters in India. Abhishek Kapoor has created magic along with the lead pair of Sushant and Sara whom he introduces. I can't wait to bring this epic tale to audiences," he added.
Pragya says shooting the film on undeveloped terrain was as thrilling as it was draining.
"This has made the journey to completion a well-earned reward," she said.
The year 2018 will also see Sara in Rohit Shetty's "Simmba", opposite Ranveer Singh.

Jaising, whose collection comprised hues like pinks, blues, blacks, moss green, saw a heavy use of embellishments, glitter and sparkle.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams: A glorified account of an over-glorified celeb

Like his book, Tendulkar's biopic is a nostalgic cruise through his career

As I walked out of the cinema hall after watching Sachin: A Billion Dreams, I wondered: Would I have thought differently of this biopic had I not known anything about the person it is based on? James Erskine’s documentary on one of the most celebrated cricketers in the world – one who has achieved a near-deific status in India – went along expected lines.
But was that because I, like many Indians and cricket followers around the world, already knew so much about Sachin Tendulkar? How would someone living under a rock for the last quarter of a century, and did not know who Tendulkar was, have liked it?
Sachin: A Billion Dreams starts off rather nicely, showing us a naughty curly-haired boy of seven or eight years living in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb, getting up to the usual seven-or-eight-year-old boy things like annoying his neighbours with pranks. The boy then receives a cricket bat as a gift from his elder sister, and this is where the story that most Indians and cricket followers already know begins.
This wasn’t the first time I was watching the celluloid adaptation of a story I already knew. I wasn’t, of course, expecting any suspense or plot twists, but I have been far more entertained by some of those other movies where I already knew what was going to happen, than I was by Sachin: A Billion Dreams. Maybe our man under the rock might think differently, but then a story still needs to be told properly, completely and honestly, and this is where Erskine’s attempt is found lacking. (more)

Smartron srt.phone: A fine deal if you are a die-hard Sachin Tendulkar fan

Powerful innards of Smartron's 'all-rounder' smartphone are failed by its many software glitches

Domestic information technology (IT) start-up Smartron, which counts Indian cricket legend Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and former Motorola Mobility Chief Executive Sanjay Jha among its investors, recently launched the srt.phone smartphone, “inspired by the dependable traits of Tendulkar”.

At the launch of srt.phone, the company claimed that the smartphone used the best antennas and other security features that made it an all-rounder. Indeed, Smartron has pleased investors with its manoeuvres to deliver solutions ranging from internet of things (IoT) to smartphones built specifically for Indian consumers. But how does the srt.phone fare against the claims of dependability and the inspiration it apparently draws from one of the tallest role models for India in recent times?

To find out, Business Standard took the device for a spin and tested its real-life performance. Here is an in-depth review of the srt.phone:
Watch the hands-on review here
Design

The srt.phone offers a no-frills design, with rounded edges and curved sides. The smartphone might look appealing, but its polycarbonate built with metallic finish seems to somewhat spoil the experience. The plastic built is not loose or creaky – it fits perfectly on all sides and the matte touch adds to the aesthetics – but the pseudo metallic look was not necessary; it is way too prominent even at the first glance.
The front of the srt.phone is dominated by a 5.5-inch full-HD display protected with Gorilla Glass 3. There are three capacitive keys below the display, but these are without any sign or icon, just three flat dots. These dots acts are the home button and navigation keys. The earpiece along with sensors are placed neatly on the top, next to the front camera. (more)

Salman Khan not worried about Baahubali 2 box office record

Baahubali: The Conclusion has so far collected over Rs 1,500 crore across the world

SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali: The Conclusion" may be setting the box office on fire but superstar Salman Khan said he doesn't get worried about the business of a film as he thinks every movie has its own destiny.
"Baahubali: The Beginning" released on July 10, 2015, a week before Salman's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan".
"Baahubali: The Conclusion", which hit theatres on April 28, has so far collected over Rs 1,500 crore across the world.
"After 'Baahubali: The Beginning', we came up with "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". Now after 'Baahubali: The Conclusion', we are coming up with 'Tubelight'. There is a lot of pressure on the CEO of Salman Khan Films. I don't get worried so much. It is a phenomenal success and it is amazing.

"I have not seen the film but I will watch it. But it doesn't matter (box office records) as I think every film has its own destiny. Lets see what the destiny of 'Tubelight' is and how much it earns," Salman told reporters here at the trailer launch of "Tubelight".
The "Dabangg" star on a lighter note further said, "They (referring to Rajamouli doing one film in four years) do one film in four years, I do two films in a year and the average is that much."
Salman's brother, actor Sohail Khan, who also stars in "Tubelight", said it's good if a movie sets a record at the box office.
"It's lovely when a film does well commercially as it sets a yardstick (for other films). It's nice that 'Baahubali...' did well," Sohail said.
During the launch, Salman seemed emotional while talking about his other co-star, legendary actor Om Puri. (more)

'Sachin: A Billion Dreams': Informative, inspirational (IANS Review, Rating: ***)

Film: "Sachin: A Billion Dreams"; Director: James Erskine; Cast: Sachin Tendulkar, Anjali Tendulkar, Ajit Tendulkar, Sara Tendulkar, Mayuresh Pem, Mayur More; Rating: ***
"Sachin: A Billion Dreams" is a biopic that gives a holistic view of Sachin Tendulkar's life, who is revered as "the God" of cricket by his fans.
Structurally, the film is designed as a documentary. While the film encapsulates the life of the master blaster right from his birth till date, it also gives an insight into the socio-economic situation of the country, making it feel like heavy-duty stuff.
This may not be the first documentary on Tendulkar, but probably it is the only one endorsed by him. So, you have him as the narrator sharing his personal moments along with his views and fears in a sincere and heartfelt manner.
While the film tells us of his growth as a cricketer which is common knowledge, it also reveals his personal life bringing to the fore his close-knit family and friends. How he got the name Sachin, how he met his wife, got married and how he spends his free moments, are a few of the interesting nuggets shared. So apart from Sachin you actually get to see his family and friends. Read more

Rana Daggubati and Prabhas are overwhelmed with the response to the trailer of Bahubali 2

Director S S Rajamouli wants the audiences to revisit the world of "Bahubali" before the release of " Bahubali 2 : The Conclusion".
Rajamouli today said they are planning to show the first part a week before the second edition hits theatres on April 28.
"We are planning to release part one maybe one or two weeks before the release of part two in southern states so people can get back into the narrative," Rajamouli said at the trailer launch of the Hindi version here.
Both Rana Daggubati and Prabhas are overwhelmed with the response to the trailer.
"The fans are happy with it. It's overwhelming to be a part of the film," Rana said.
The Tamil version of the trailer had leaked online hours before its official release and the makers called it "technical glitch".
"This particular thing is neither due to leakage or piracy, it is due to some technical glitch on Facebook. The video which was to be on private mode went on public mode. But fans are happy that we came early. All is well that ends well," Rajamouli said.
"Baahubali: The Beginning" is one of the highest grossing Indian films, which reportedly earned Rs 650 crore at the box office.
Karan Johar, who is presenting the Hindi version of the film, joked that presenters made all the money.
"The presenters make money, the one who put their hard work, blood, sweat and tears don't make money always. But the equity the film has made is beyond monetary," he added.

From Mumbai to the Oscars — 8-year-old Sunny Pawar’s incredible journey

The 89th Academy Awards may be over, but the internet cannot get enough of eight-year-old Sunny Pawar. The Indian child actor who acted in the Oscar-nominated movie Lion starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman was a huge hit with the stars at the awards. Sunny, who plays the role of Saroo Brierley, the younger version of Dev Patel, joined the Slumdog Millionaire actor on stage while he introduced their film. Lion is the true story of a young child who is separated from his family and later gets adopted by an Australian family. When he grows up, he uses Google Earth to find his parents.
Sunny used phonetics to learn and speak English as he speaks only Hindi. Initially, director Garth Davis had to struggle a bit, but only until Sunny overcame the obstacles with hard work. Garth and casting director Kristy McGregor went through over 2,000 tapes and zeroed in on Sunny for this role. In an interview with Vulture, Garth said, "For me, when I’m looking at all the kids, anyone who kind of touched that place in me, I thought we were getting close. But it was never a bull’s-eye, really, until one day, this little Sunny came into the room and he was kind of pretty instant for me."
Actor Dev Patel, in his chat with Daily Telegraph, had to say this about Sunny, "He’s our little mascot on this movie. For him, he’d never been on a plane before or seen a Hollywood film and now he’s leading this big movie. He’s so beautifully innocent and that’s why you get such a beautiful performance from him. He’s just really enjoying it."
Though Sunny is passionate about choosing acting as a career option, he is also interested in becoming an IPS officer and joining the Mumbai Police. He loves WWE and is very keen on attending a match soon, which he missed during his press tours. Otherwise, this adorable little actor likes to eat and sleep.

IS SALMAN KHAN DATING AMY JACKSON?

Is This the Real Reason Why Salman Khan Gatecrashed 2.0 First Look Launch Event?

\

Salman Khan’s surprise entry to Rajinikanth’s 2.0 first look launch uninvited grabbed headlines for obvious reasons. While Khan stated that he dropped by to meet his idol, superstar Rajinikanth, it seems there is a more than what meets the eye.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Salman Khan is not any more with Iulia Vantur but is smitten by another foreign beauty. The lady in question is Amy Jackson. Onlookers at the 2.0 event state that Salman dropped by actually to support Jackson, who is the leading lady of the film. While the cast and crew posed with Salman on stage, Salman was seen constantly talking to Amy, who simply smiled and blushed in return.

Has Salman Khan found love in Amy Jackson, after Iulia Vantur?

Salman Khan and Iulia Vantur are a thing of past now. Brutal no? Just a few months ago we were raving about Bhai and his Romanian girlfriend who was a permanent fixture at his Galaxy Apartments home. She was also seen travelling with his mother Salma and sister Alvira to his Sultan sets.

They were going really strong, grapevine was abuzz with a possible wedding too! But things fell apart and they had to part ways. Vantur made her breakup very public with her interview to a local newspaper back at her home. Sallu Bhai seems undeterred with his break up as he is already moved past this Romanian beauty right into the gorgeous arms of someone else.

Now, aren’t you excited to know who’s this beauty to have caught Bhai’s attention? Well, she is 2.0’s leading lady Amy Jackson.

Weren’t you a little surprised as Salman made a surprise appearance at Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 first look launch? This is not a typical thing the Tubelight actor would do. According to Mumbai Mirror, it was a romantic gesture for his lady love who was seen blushing on the dais which she shared with Thalaivar and Akki.

Now, now, now this is truly an interesting turn of events for Salman. Right? There seems to be a common thread if you look at all his past relationships with Katrina Kaif, Iulia Vantur and now Amy Jackson: They are all foreigners. Hmm, we got your weak spot, Salman.
