Vidya Balan: Kahaani 2 has a universal story

Actress Vidya Balan, who is busy promoting her film "Kahaani 2" said the films story will connect with the masses and explained how she gets into the skin of a character in a film.

"The film has a universal story. Honestly, when I am doing something I completely enter into it and I don't think how the film will turn out," the National Award winning actress said.

Vidya, who went to radio stations on a promotion spree on Wednesday, spoke about her enjoyable experience there.

"I love radio trails a lot because RJs are very energetic and every station has something interesting happening. You don't get bored," she said.

The film "Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh" has been promoted in a different manner with wanted posters of the actress, who is playing the character "Durga Rani Singh", posted in public.

Asked if she is nervous about the film she said, "I am not nervous. I have done whatever I wanted to do. Now all we can do is give our best in promotions. We are promoting the film in a different manner, which keeps my interest and energy level going."(more)

We know you must have been expecting Deepika Padukone to start Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati first but the actress is currently busy shooting for Iranian director Majid Majidi's next ambitious project based in India.

The first look of DP's character from the film is out and Deepika looks unrecognisable in the film. From sashaying the red carpet in a sexy outfit a few days back, DP is now walking the streets of Mumbai as a rag picker with torn clothes. Yes, that's what we can make out from the first few stills of Deepika that has now gone viral on the Internet.

The casting director of the film said, "It is an Indian story and will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and Kashmir. It will take off towards the year-end or early 2017 and is a signature Majidi film with new takes on relationships and emotional quotients."

Deepika was expected to start Padmavati but she plans to wrap this up before embarking on SLB's magnum opus.

Deepika Padukone is all set to start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati from Saturday. This marks the exit of Ranveer Singh from this schedule, as the lead pair doesn’t share a single frame in the film.

According to a source close to the project, “Sanjay Bhansali starts shooting with Deepika at a time when Ranveer gets busy with the promotion of Aditya Chopra’s Befikre. Ranveer will be heading to various Indian cities and countries abroad with his co-star Vaani Kapoor, including a Parisian promotion and premiere, in the next few weeks as Deepika gets busy with Padmavati.”

This is not the first time Sanjay Bhansali and Aditya Chopra are “sharing” Ranveer  Singh in their cast. While Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani was being shot Ranveer took time off to promote Yash Raj films’ Kill Dill.


Says a source, “When it comes to Ranveer Singh there is always a give and take between Yash Raj Films and SLB Productions.”

Shahid plays Raja Ratan Singh, the Rajput ruler and husband of queen Padmavati (Deepika), in the period drama, to be directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Ranveer Singh will be seen as Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who falls in love with Padmavati. "I will start shooting for 'Padmavati' in a couple of weeks. I haven't started it yet, but it is an amazing honour to work with Bhansali ji. I love his films, I think he is a fantastic filmmaker. I am very excited about the role he has offered me. This is the first time that Deepika and I will be working together which is great. This is the first time me and Ranveer will be working together, which is great," Shahid told reporters at an event last night. 

The actor recently wrapped up his film with Vishal Bhardwaj, titled "Rangoon", which also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. The 35-year-old actor feels he is in an "amazing" phase professionally as he is working with two great directors back-to-back.

"Padmavati is a really big film. It is a challenging film to do as an actor. After working with Vishal Bharadwaj, working with Bhansali is an amazing place to be. I feel very

fortunate," he said.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who is gearing up for her Hollywood debut with "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" opposite Hollywood actor Vin Diesel, represented India at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2016.

Deepika, along with her "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" co-star Nina Dobrev, was one the presenters at the award ceremony, which took place here on Sunday. The award ceremony was aired in India on Vh1.

She gave away the Best Video Award trophy to singer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known by his stage name The Weeknd.

PM Modi celebrates Diwali with jawans in Sumdo on the Indo-China border

Jawans offer sweets to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occassion of Diwali at Sumdo in Himachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday celebrated Diwali with jawans of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Indian Army and Dogra Scouts in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. “Spent time with our courageous @ITBP_official & Army Jawans at Sumdo, Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh. Jai Jawan! Jai Hind!,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

“Made unscheduled stop at Chango village, close to Somdu, to wish people on Diwali. Was deeply touched by the impromptu reception & their joy,” he added.

Showering his praise on the armed forces guarding the nation, Prime Minister Modi earlier today dedicated this year’s Diwali to the jawans. Addressing the nation in the 25th edition of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme, the Prime Minister said that he was flooded with messages full of wishes and love for the jawans.

“Dedicate this Diwali to our soldiers. #Sandesh2Soldiers hashtag was used so much by everyone and we were flooded with well wishes and love for jawans from citizens. Be it BSF, CRPF etc, our jawans are on duty and guarding us; that is why we are celebrating Diwali joyfully,” said the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier spent Diwali with soldiers of the Indian Army posted at the world’s highest battlefield of Siachen as well as the Dogra war memorial at Amritsar. He also made it a point to be in Srinagar before his visit to Siachen in 2014, in solidarity with the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier last week, Prime Minister Modi launched a campaign named “Sandesh for Soldiers” to send Diwali greetings to those serving on India’s borders. “I sent my #Sandesh2Soldiers. You could also do the same. Your wishes will certainly make our forces very happy. This Diwali, let us remember our courageous armed forces who constantly protect our nation. Jai Hind. When 125 crore people stand with soldiers, their power increases by 125 crore,” he tweeted then.

Prominent celebrities like film actors Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar as well as several Union Ministers have sent messages tagging Prime Minister Modi during the course of this campaign.
